The perception of beauty can differ from person to person.
Sometimes for one, it can mean physical images of pretty nouns. Maybe it could be how someone feels about themselves. Learning how to bake your favorite sweets. There are so many combinations out there that people tend to forget that beauty is everywhere. The way your mind works, the people in your life, smiling on your birthday: it’s beautiful. In this current world, humans think we’re meant to keep this steady figure that meets society’s standards of living. The way we eat, dress, talk, and show emotion; it’s all judged in this world. The beauty of everything got stripped away because of society’s arrogance and greediness. Everyone competes for the smallest things, like getting a coffee quickly before going to work or buying shoes before it’s sold out.
The biggest thing I want people to remember is that it’s necessary just to sit down and admire this Earth we live on. I know it may be hard with whatever is going on with someone’s life, and maybe they even feel guilty for taking a break. It’s okay to breathe for a second.
My experience with beauty wasn’t simple.
I’m still young, trying to understand the world’s treasures and misfortunes. Going through stages of my life while trying to take a second to breathe never made sense to me. I thought meditation was a waste of time, reading books wouldn’t relax me, and hiding my tears would make me become a stronger person. This is all wrong. The beauty of life is growing from mistakes and finding those guilty pleasures. From my knowledge and the family I grew up with, it definitely wasn’t ordinary. There’s no such thing as a life that’s normal. Whatever hardships we go through, it’s all meant to make you stronger in your heart and intelligent in your thoughts. I never realized how beautiful evolution could be. All my life, I’ve been trying to find the right answer to save me from all my troubles. Taking smaller shortcuts instead of taking the difficult ones that would lead me to brighter places. The things I find beautiful:
- the rain slightly drizzling from the sky
- reading my favorite book
- listening to music in the car
- most importantly, the way I combat my struggles
“So you mean I should just try to stay happy when I feel overwhelmed?” Not at all. I’m saying that everyone should understand the importance of realizing the achievement they’ve made when one problem was solved or even thought about.
The meaning behind all of this is that life’s misfortunes thrown at you are meant to be a happy accident. “What’s so happy about me being so sad all the time?” That’s not what I’m saying. Coming to terms with the fact that beauty is in anything makes it unfortunate happiness.
As I’m sitting right now in a bookstore, writing this post, earlier, a woman slammed her book on the table in front of mine. Agitated, mad, rushed. Minutes passed, and now she’s peacefully reading her book with pure concentration. I don’t know what’s going on in her life to have made her so mad, but seeing the way she relaxes in the pages of her story, is a happy accident: serendipity.
